dr Monika Kucharczyk

Dr. Monika Kucharczyk is one of Poland’s acclaimed oboists. She is a soloist, chamber musician, pedagogue and recipient of a scholarship from he Minister of Culture and National Heritage.

Monika Kucharczyk is soloist – principal oboist of the Cracow Opera Orchestra and lecturer at the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Cracow. She graduated from the M. Karłowicz State Music School in Katowice in the class of Prof. Jozef Markiel. While in the diploma class, she simultaneously began full-time studies at the Academy of Music in Cracow. She graduated with honors in the oboe ass of prof. Jerzy Kotyczka and prof. Arkadiusz Krupa, as well as solo postgraduate studies (also with honors) in the class of Prof. Jerzy Kotyczka.

On April 14, 2021, she defended her dissertation entitled: “Bel canto and con bravura in the context of Antonio Pasculli’s oboe works. Opera inspirations, performance difficulties, interpretive differences” and received a doctorate in musical arts.

Monika Kucharczyk has a rich artistic output, engaged in many projects and collaborations with leading Polish ensembles. In her musical activity, she can boast of cooperation with such ensembles as Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra, Beethoven Academy Orchestra, NOSPR, National Philharmonic Orchestra, Lodz Philharmonic Orchestra, Poznan Philharmonic Orchestra, AUKSO Orchestra. In 2019, Warner Classics released the album “Möbius”, on which Dr. Monika Kucharczyk and the Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra performed the concertante part of the 1st oboe in Symphony No. V “Korean” by Krzysztof Penderecki. She also taught at the Academy of Music in Łódź in the 2020/2021 academic year. She was also a soloist with the Sinfonia luventus orchestra in Warsaw. It has participated in numerous recording sessions for Warner Classics, Universal Music, Dux, among others.

Monika Kucharczyk is the co-author of the project Temporal Duo – an oboe and piano duo (together with Dr. Lukasz Dębski) Temporal Duo are made up of uncommon personalities, thanks to which their artistic creations are appreciated on Polish and European stages. The Temporal Duo boasts numerous achievements and premieres of works in its many years of activity. In 2025 Temporal Duo has released its first album, titled „Beyond the Horizon” (produced by DUX – DUX1994).

Temporal Duo’s major achievements include:

  • Third Prize (Second Prize was not awarded) at the Fourth International Academic Competition of Oboists and Bassoonists in Łódź, Poland 2011,
  • Winner of The Music Competition 3rd Prize title at the prestigious Lions European Music Competition for Oboe, held as part of the Europa Forum in Maastricht, the first ever winners from Poland (Netherlands 2011),
  • First Prize at the 1st Swiss International Music Competition in Lugano, Switzerland 2021)
  • First Prize at the Grand Prize Virtuoso in Rome (2021)
  • Third Prize at the London Classical Music Competition (2022).

The album “Beyond the Horizon” has won numerous awards and recognition around the world:

  • Second Prize at the Global Music Awards in the Best CD category (California, USA),
  • Special Mention at the Medici International Music Competition (United Kingdom),
  • Diamond Prize in the Best CD category (also the highest award among all participants and competition categories) at the Best Classical Musicians Awards Season 3 (United Kingdom),
  • Diamond Prize in the Best CD category (also the highest award among all participants and competition categories) at the World Classical Music Awards (United Kingdom).

Monika Kucharczyk has actively participated in numerous orchestral courses and oboe workshops with such oboists as Stefan Schilli, Nicolas Daniel, Jean Louis Capezzali, Celine Moinet, among others. She is constantly expanding her musical and non-musical horizons.
