We are pleased to share that the Iceland University of the Arts is planning a BIP Staff Week from 11–15 May, dedicated exclusively to administrative staff.
The week will focus on wellbeing within our university context, offering an opportunity to explore how we support both students and staff, and how administrative roles contribute to an inclusive and caring environment.
Our preliminary program includes:
- General overview of IUA & Tours of IUA locations
- Insights into student and staff wellbeing structures at IUA
- Perspectives from our wellbeing, counselling, and inclusion teams
- Creative wellbeing practices (e.g., singing for health, art‑based methods)
- Visits to graduation exhibitions across departments
- Social wellbeing activities such as sea bathing, sauna, or swimming

The organizers expect to receive feedback on the general interest in the project before March 31st, 2026.
The idea of the project is to bring together one string quartet (vl1, vL2, vla, vlc) from each higher education institution, in France and in European partner institutions. The combined quartets will form a unique string ensemble for one week in Paris, to work together on a concert program.

• Anton Webern: Langsamer Satz
• Ludwig van Beethoven: Quartet No. 11, Op. 95 (orchestrated by Gustav Mahler)
• A contemporary piece, possibly with a soloist, to be confirmed
A meeting with a representative of the professional music area will be scheduled during the session, on January 7, 2027
One or more online meetings (virtual module) will be organized to prepare for the in-person sessions
The main language of instruction will be English. French will also be used as a second language.

Objectives
The project aims to promote an important family of musicians from Bologna, the Ferraboscos, who left their mark on the musical life of the city throughout the 16th century and part of the 17th century, and was active and well known in the major European cultural centres.
The project involves an in-depth study not only of the three most important composers of the family, Domenico, Alfonso senior and Alfonso junior, but also of others, namely the female musicians Ferrabosco. Bringing together students, teachers and scholars from all over Europe in Bologna to celebrate these musicians means reviving a piece of the city’s history and at the same time reinserting it into its European dimension. Methods and outcomes The programme comprises ensemble music lessons, masterclasses, lectures and workshops. Lessons and masterclasses will bring students together in musical groups that will elaborate and study Ferraboscos’ compositions under the guidance of three eminent musicians and specialists in the field of Italian Renaissance music, Bruce Dickey, Elam Rotem and Walter Testolin. Workshops and lectures will be offered to explore individual aspects of that repertoire and its musical practice, as well as the history of the Ferrabosco family. The outcomes will therefore be, for students and teachers, knowledge of the Bolognese Renaissance repertoire and a greater ability to interpret it according to historically informed criteria; for scholars, a greater knowledge of the city’s musical history. The results will be available to everyone: the project will conclude with one or more public concerts that will be recorded on video; the lectures will be available online, in the form of written text or video. Short description of the virtual component The project involves a significant preparatory virtual component: videos, videoconferences and emails will be used to select the best participants and to distribute the music involved in the project, with precise instructions on how to perform it. The coordinator will connect with each participant via video conference to illustrate the repertoire and clarify any doubts, so that the days of the in-person meeting can be used to their full potential. In addition, there will be an introductory lecture on the history of the Ferrabosco family in the form of a video conference.

The BIP aims to explore arrangement of brass ensemble repertoire in a combo setting as well as provide a career intensive session by leading professionals, fostering creativity, improvisation, and collaboration. Participants will develop a deeper understanding of brass ensemble playing and repertoire, enhance their performance skills and engage in intercultural musical exchange. The programme encourages students to explore new collaboration techniques, knowledge of new national repertoires for brass instruments, particularly those of the three countries involved and focus on their career goals.
This intensive week-long program offers, after an initial online session, in-person sessions, bringing together students and faculty from different musical backgrounds. Through masterclasses, ensemble work, career sessions, participants will develop arrangements playing in a brass ensemble. The week culminates in a collaborative performance, showcasing innovative musical interpretations and live concert.
The programme combines lectures, masterclasses, ensemble coaching, and live concerts. The online session provides foundational knowledge, while in-person activities focus on hands-on learning, collaborating and performances. Peer feedback and mentorship enhance artistic growth.
Participants will gain a deeper understanding of brass ensemble repertorie ant teaching skills, improve their personal technique on solo and ensemble repertoire, set career goals, and explore innovative executive techniques. They will develop confidence in collaboration, expand their professional network, and showcase their progress in a final performance.

Inspired by Irish writer Samuel Beckett’s last poem, QuartetLab: What is the Word explores the possibilities of language – musical, spoken, written. The project explores works written over four centuries by Bach, Beethoven, and Barry Guy. The project looks deeply inside the medium of the string quartet to better understand how we communicate.

ERASMUS+ BIP – QUADRI D’OPERA

For whom? voice and drama students, piano students (accompanists)
Physical mobility: 13-19 April 2026
Quadri d’Opera aims to deepen a selection of scenes from the most performed Italian operas (L’elisir d’amore, Don Giovanni, Le nozze di Figaro, La bohème), combining vocal performance and stage interpretation. Special attention will be given to duets and ensemble pieces, encouraging interaction between performers and the development of musical and stage skills. The project is open to singers, piano students interested in accompaniment, and first year students who could be interested in developing stage management skills. Students can apply by 15th November.
Reference professors are: Elisabetta Scano (voice) and Vittoria Lai (stage interpretation).
