dr Radosław Wieczorek
Radosław Wieczorek was born into a family of musicians in 1996. He began playing the guitar at an early age, learning under the guidance of his father, Franciszek Wieczorek. Radosław graduated from the guitar class of Professor Janusz Sochacki at the Academy of Music in Kraków and later completed his studies with Professor Marco Tamayo at the University Mozarteum in Salzburg.
As a soloist and chamber musician, he has performed in numerous countries, including Poland, Germany, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Serbia, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom. He collaborates with Spółdzielnia Muzyczna contemporary ensamble, New Music Orchestra and and has been part of the Silesian Guitar Octet since 2013. Radosław has premiered works by composers such as Odysseas Konstantinopoulos, Jerzy Bauer, Krzysztof Grzeszczak, Keiko Fujiie, Maciej Jabłoński, Michał Lazar, Witold Szalonek, Paweł Malinowski, and many others.
Radosław Wieczorek has won numerous prizes at both national and international guitar competitions, including:
- Second prize at the International Guitar Competition “Cithara Ignea” in Żory, Poland (2014)
- First prize and Grand Prix in the 5th and 6th categories of the “Mladi Gitaristi” competition in Dolný Kubín, Slovakia (2017)
- Premio Speciale della Giuria at the VI Concorso Internazionale “Rocco Peruggini” in Locate di Triulzi, Italy (2019)
- First prize at the Rotary International Competition Madrid Velázquez, Spain (2019)
In the 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 academic years, Radosław studied at the “Youth Music Academy” in Katowice with Wanda Palacz and Marcin Dylla. He furthered his education at the Segovia Guitar Academy with Paolo Pegoraro and Adriano del Sal during the 2015/2016 and 2018/2019 academic years. He also studied with Oscar Ghiglia at the Chigiana Academy in Siena. Through the Erasmus+ programme, Radosław spent time at the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali “O. Vecchi – A. Tonelli” in Modena, studying with Andrea Dieci. Additionally, he has refined his skills at numerous masterclasses and workshops with renowned teachers such as Carlo Marchione, Paul Galbraith, Laura Young, Margarita Escarpa, Jeremy Jouve, Gabriel Bianco, Judicaël Perroy, Łukasz Kuropaczewski, Tomasz Zawierucha, Petr Saidl, Hubert Käppel, Thomas Müller-Pering, David Russell, Alexander Swete, and Giampaolo Bandini.
Radosław is a scholarship recipient of the CEA (Polish Artistic Education Center) and theMinistry of Culture and National Heritage (2017 and 2019), as well as the “Young Poland” Scholarship Program from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of Poland (2020).
He is a member of the editorial board of the classical guitar magazine Sześć Strun Świata and collaborates with Ruch Muzyczny, the oldest music magazine in Poland.
In 2025, he obtained a PhD at the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków, under the supervision of Professor Michał Nagy. He also serves as a collaborator in the Guitar and Harp Department at the Academy.
