He was born in Cracow, where he completed at his musical education. In 1979 he graduated with honours from the Academy of Music having studied with Eugenia Umińska. In 1974, as a member of The All’Antico Chamber Orchestra, he shared first prize and a gold medal at the International Youth Orchestras Competition, under the auspices of Herbert von Karajan, in West Berlin. He is a prize winner of the Zdzisław Jahnke First National Violin Competition in Poznań (1976), the Sixth Chamber Music Competition in Łódź (1977) and the Musical April in Włocławek in 1978. He was semi-finalist of the Alberto Curci International Violin Competition in Naples (1979 and 1981). He has appeared many times at numerous national and international (Tschechoslovakia, Germany, Denmark, Belgium) music festivals, and has recorded for both Polish and German Radio and Television (ZDF). He was a soloist of Cracow chamber ensemble “Capellae Cracoviensis” and “Collegium Cracoviense”. In 1991 he was invited to perform for the Symposium on the Cultural Heritage, as a part of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe. In 2000 he played for European Union officials in Brussels.
He has recorded CD for Jewish Culture Center in Cracow, two cassettes for „STEBO” in Cracow.too (with his partners from „Reiner Trio”). On this CD you find an unique (in the world scale) recording of Suite by John Williams for violin and piano, which is a music to the film “Schindler’s List“ (by Steven Spielberg). In 2014 and 2017 Record Company “Ars Sonora” released his CD “Live! Recital” and CD “Live! Recital vo;. 2” with great violin and piano sonatas and with exceptional performing of Nigun by Ernest Bloch. This CD has met with enthusiastic opinions in the music world. Additionally, with his Reiner Quartett he recorded for Vienna Modern Masters.
He plays together with outstanding Polish artists. He has got a broad repertoire in both solo and chamber music. His performances win a wide popular and critical acclaim.
In 1995 he founded “Reiner Trio” (with cellist Barbara Łypik-Sobaniec and pianist Sławomir Cierpik). This ensemble took part at numerous national and international music festivals, for example “Festival Van Vlaanderen” (in Belgium) or “Music in Old Cracow”. In 1999 trio was playing within the Festival “Schalom” in Lepzig (Germany), performing Trio in D minor by Felix Mendelssohn at home of this famous romantic composer. The Trio took part in the same Festival in 2001 and 2003. Reiner Trio plays most important pieces of all periods by Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Tschaikovsky, Chopin, Rachmaninov, Shostakovich, Panufnik, Malawski a.o. In 2000 Reiner Trio gave a concert for officials of the European Union in Brussels, for Gorthe-Institut’s inviting in this town.
Roman Reiner teaches at The Cracow Academy of Music from 1979, having many graduates. He is a titular professor (from 2000).
