Wacław Mulak – trumpet

Wacław Mulak, Assistant Professor (postdoctoral degree)
Graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw in 1994, then joined the Capella Cracoviensis orchestra as Pricipal Trumpet (soloist). He won first prize at the Brass Instruments Competition in Wrocław, Poland (1989), Chamber Ensemble Competition in Bydgoszcz, Poland (1993). He has performed with such orchestras as: Sinfonia Varsovia, AUKSO Chamber Orchestra, Sinfonietta Cracovia, Sinfonietta Tübingen or the Stuttgart Opera House, National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, Polish Radio Orchestra of Krakow. At present he is the Principal Trumpet (soloist) at the Karol Szymanowski Philharmonic in Krakow. He has performed under a number of distinguished conductors, such as Lothar Zagrosek, Jerzy Semkow, Stanisław Skrowaczewski, Krzysztof Penderecki, Kazimierz Kord, Wladymir Polianiczko, Antoni Wit, Emmanuel Krivine, Gabriel Chmura, Jacek Kaspszyk, Grzegorz Nowak. In 2001 he received a doctoral degree in the field of trumpet performace. He currently holds the position of Assistant Professor at the Academy of Music in Krakow. Since 1999 he has conducted classes at the Summer Music Academy in Krakow. He is the co-founder of Barock Tune. In 2013 he was conferred a postdoctoral degree.
