Paweł Solecki – basoon

Bassoonist, in 1998 he graduated from the Academy of Music in Cracow in the class of prof. K. Siudmak with a perfect result. He is a laureate of national music competitions and a scholarship holder of several foundations, including: International Music Camp in 1989, Foundation of Young Art 1989-91, European Mozart Foundation in 1994-95, where he worked, among others under the watchful eye of Milan Turkovič and Jessy Read. Finalist of the International Competition of Musical Personalities A.Tansman in Łódź (1998) and participant of the International Prague Spring Competition (2002). In 1996, he performed at the prestigious Schwetzingen festival as part of the Polish-German Music Encounters. In the 2004/05 season he was the first bassoonist of the Lebanese National Symphony Orchestra in Beirut. In 1996-2011 he was the first bassoonist of the Capella Cracoviensis chamber orchestra. He collaborates with the Beethoven Academy Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of the City of Tychy. He is a member of both the Cracow Reed Trio with which in 2005 he recorded for DUX the music of Polish composers and a year later for the Polish Bach Society the Trio Sonata E-flat major BWV 525 J.S. Bach as well as the Cracow Wind Quintet who in 2016 together with the eminent Polish pianist Beata Bilińska recorded the Quint(et)essence album nominated for the Fryderyk 2017 music award in the category – album of the year – chamber music. He made numerous premieres including Concertino for a reed trio and strings by K. Herdzin’s dedicated to Cracow Reed Trio. He also acts as a composer. In 2016 by the music edition Contra his Bassoon Quartet no.1 was published as well as in 2020 and 2021, the music edition Polihymnia published Three Balkan Impressions and Polish Bucolics for woodwind quintet. For his artistic achievements he was honored with a badge – Meritorious for Polish Culture.
Since November 2006, he has also been collaborating with the Krakow poet and singer Basia Stępniak-Wilk.
In 2017, he obtained his habilitation degree, and in 2024 he received the title of professor of art in the field of musical arts.
From November 2006 he also collaborates with the Cracow poet and singer – Basia Stępniak-Wilk. Currently he works as a lecturer at the K. Penderecki Academy of Music in Cracow and performs as a soloist and chamber musician.
