Maria Bazou, studentka II roku studiów magisterskich w klasie dyrygentury prof. dra hab. Rafała Jacka Delekty, została zakwalifikowana do udziału w Taki Alsop Conducting Fellowship, międzynarodowym programie stypendialnym prowadzonym przez światowej sławy dyrygentkę Marin Alsop. Stypendium będzie realizowała od 1 stycznia do 31 grudnia 2027 roku.

Celem programu stypendialnego Taki Alsop Conducting Fellowship jest mentoring i wsparcie kobiet-dyrygentów w ich karierze zawodowej.

BIO

Maria Bazou graduated with honors in orchestra conducting, piano, clarinet, composition and choir conducting from the Athens Conservatory and the Katerina Maska Conservatory. She is currently a senior in the Master’s conducting program in the class of Professor Rafał Delekta at the Akademia Muzyczna im. Krzystofa Pendereckiego w Krakowie. In June 2025, she graduated from the conducting class of Maestro Michalis Economou in the Athens Conservatoire with honors and the distinction of “first prize”. She is also a senior in the Department of Music Studies at the National University of Athens.

In 2023, she won awards at international competitions in Romania and Poland. At the age of 19, she founded the symphony orchestra and choir “Filii Notas” in Athens. She was also a 5-year scholarship holder in orchestra conducting „In Memory of Theodoros Antoniou”.

Maria has participated in many international masterclasses and has worked professionally with orchestras as a guest conductor and assistant conductor around the world. Additionally, she was a fellow for the years 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 at the Krakow Academy of Music due to her outstanding grades and achievements. In January 2026, she was distinguished as a Mentee for the Taki Alsop Conducting Fellowship.
