NOTE: The Examination Boards reserve the right to select the pieces or parts thereof during the entrance examination.

DETAILED REQUIREMENTS
FOR THE UNDERGRADUATE (BACHELOR’S DEGREE) PROGRAMME

A two-stage examination; candidates who have passed the first stage are admitted to the second stage.

Stage 1: Major exam

an examination in playing an instrument – practical

Supplementary exam

an ear training – an oral examination

Stage 2: Supplementary exams

1.sight-reading – a practical examination
2. a quick study examination (preparation of a provided piece of music – individual work) – practical
3. interview – an oral examination

 

Programme:

Playing the piano

• J. S. Bach – Prelude and fugue (from WTC)
• Classical sonata (J. Haydn, W.A. Mozart, L. van Beethoven)
• Virtuoso etude (F. Chopin, F. Liszt, S. Rachmaninov and others)
• A significant romantic form (F. Chopin, F. Liszt, R. Schumann, F. Schubert, J. Brahms, F. Mendelssohn Bartholdy)
• A piece from the 20th or 21st century (excluding post-romantic pieces, e.g. by S. Rachmaninov, I. J. Paderewski)

The programme must be performed from memory.

Stage 2: Supplementary exams

a quick study examination (preparation of a provided piece of music – individual work) – practical

 

Programme:

Playing the piano

• A classical sonata – composers to choose from: J. Haydn, W.A. Mozart, L. van Beethoven
• A virtuoso etude or other virtuoso piece
• A romantic or neo-romantic grand form (also variations, cycles and sonatas) – Chopin, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Liszt, Brahms, etc.
• A piece from the 20th or 21st century (Debussy, Ravel, Szymanowski, Prokofiev, Shostakovich and others, excluding post-romantic pieces, e.g. S. Rachmaninov, I. J. Paderewski).

The programme (approx. 45-50 minutes) must be performed from memory.
