HOW TO APPLY


STEP I: REGISTRATION

Registration takes place via the Module for Electronic Registration of Candidates (MERK) of the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków, the link to which will be available within the registration dates.

from 8th May to 8th June 2026.

The following files should be attached electronically to the recruitment form (legal basis: § 11, p. 1 and 2, § 12, p. 1 and 2 of the Resolution No. 22/2025 of the Senate of the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków of 27 June 2025), i.e.:

all candidates:

  • colour photograph meeting an identity card requirements (it will be used for your student ID card),
  • proof of payment of the application fee to the Academy account;

first-cycle studies candidates:

  • document constituting the basis for admission – a scan of the secondary school leaving certificate issued by the Regional Examination Commission, and in the case of candidates from abroad – a secondary school leaving certificate or equivalent document;
  • questionnaire downloaded from the AMKP website – only candidates applying for the sound engineering major;

second-cycle studies candidates,

  • scan of your degree certificate or certificate of completion of studies (except for AMKP graduates);
  • a scan of the transcript of first-cycle or long-cycle Master’s degree studies or another document confirming the course of these studies – only candidates applying for a field of study other than the one they have completed (except for AMKP graduates);

foreign candidates who are not citizens of an EU Member State, EFTA, Switzerland or the United Kingdom:

  • a document certifying knowledge of the language of instruction at a level not lower than B2.

Note that the certificates/diplomas obtained abroad should be translated into Polish by a sworn translator entered in the list of sworn translators kept by the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Poland and should be legalised or bear an apostille (except for the International Baccalaureate diploma and the European Baccalaureate certificate). They should also bear a note specifying the type of studies for which the document entitles the holder to apply in the country of issue, unless there is an international agreement granting such entitlement.

Additionaly (applies for secondary school leaving certificates) – if the certificate does not contain information about the grading scale used, a document containing the grading scale, translated and legalised (bearing an apostille) in the same manner as the certificate, must be provided together with the certificate.

The correct submission of the form will be confirmed by an automatic message (please do not reply).

STEP II: FEES

* IF YOU ARE APPLYING TO TAKE EXAMS FOR MORE THAN ONE FIELD OF STUDY, YOU MUST PAY A MULTIPLE OF THIS AMOUNT AND PROVIDE THE NAMES OF THE FACULTIES TO WHICH YOU ARE APPLYING.  THE FEE MUST BE CREDITED TO THE ACADEMY’S ACCOUNT AT THE LATEST ON THE DAY OF THE EXAM.

In addition, the candidate shall send a scanned copy of the proof of payment of the recruitment fee to the Academy’s account (also using the MERK system).

STEP III: EXAMS

Entrance examinations dates:

19th June to 1st July 2026

Details concerning the exact day and time of exams will be sent to candidates by secretaries of appropriate fields of study/majors by email.

  1. Before taking the entrance examination, the candidate should submit to the examination board the following materials:
  • for the “Composition” and “jazz arrangement and composition” majors:

– for the first-cycle studies: at least three independently produced compositions, preferred various ensembles: instrumental, vocal or mixed,
– for the second-cycle studies: a selection of scores and recordings of own compositions with diverse cast (orchestral, chamber, solo, vocal, instrumental, electroacoustic) completed in recent years, proving the knowledge and skills at the level required at the completion of the first-cycle composition programme.

  2. The candidate shall bring to the exam his or her own sheet music. Candidates may come with their own accompanist, or contact an accompanist from the Academy through the relevant secretary of the Faculty Admissions Committee. This applies also to the rhythmic section.

 

STEP IV: EXAM RESULTS

  1. The meetings of the Faculty Admissions Committees regarding decisions on the admission to study will be held after the completion of the entrance examinations;
  2. After the announcement of the recruitment results, all the candidates who have been admitted to studies by the decision of the Faculty Admissions Committeeplease receive the message by e-mail, including the information about the deadline for enrolment and the list of scanned copies of documents required for being included onto the list of students;
  3. Candidates who have not been admitted to the programmes, and all non-Polish citizens, will receive the decision of the Faculty Admissions Committee by registered letter (e-Doręczenia [e-Delivery], with acknowledgement of receipt).

PLEASE REMEMBER TO MEET THE REQUIRED DEADLINES. IF YOU DO NOT CONFIRM  YOUR ENROLMENT BY THE REQUIRED DEADLINE, THIS WILL MEAN RESIGNATION FROM THE STUDIES AND WILL RESULT IN REMOVAL FROM THE LIST OF ADMITTED CANDIDATES.

 

STEP V: ENROLMENT FOR STUDIES

  1. In order to be enrolled, you must send a declaration and scanned copies of the required documents to the provided e-mail address by the required deadline. Detailed information will be sent to your email address and can be found in the tab Candidates/ Download section.

No later than by the day preceding the start date of the academic year, the enrolled person must present the following documents at the appropriate Faculty Office, or otherwise that person will be removed from the list of students:

  • the original documents required for enrolment – for the purpose of confirming that the scanned copies sent previously are true copies of the originals – and an identity document for inspection;
  • candidates who are not Polish citizens and candidates who are applying for studies in English shall submit the documents translated into Polish;
  • if the documents were obtained abroad, the candidate shall present them in the original and in translation into Polish, together with a document certifying their recognition (if required); Academic recognition. More information can be found in the Candidates/ Foreign candidates tab.
