Concert “Nordic Streams” | 2026
We invite to the third edition of the ‘Nordic Streams’ concert – a collaborative project between the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków and the Institute of German and Nordic Studies at the Jagiellonian University, which has already become a tradition.
This year’s programme focuses on emotion and contrast. The AMKP Symphonic Project Orchestra, conducted by Prof. Maciej Tworek, will perform the monumental music of Gustav Holst – we will hear two movements from his ‘The Planets’ suite, which best reflect the atmosphere of the entire work: the raw power of Mars and the solemn grandeur of Jupiter. The first movement of Jean Sibelius’s legendary Violin Concerto, featuring the Polish-Icelandic violinist Nikodem Frach as soloist, will transport the audience into a completely different mood. The evening will be rounded off with Icelandic vocal and instrumental music, capturing the island’s unique landscape.
The full concert programme will be published soon.
Project coordinator: Maksymilian Frach, MA
The project is held under the patronage of the Icelandic Ministry of Culture
