The honorary doctorate conferred upon Jonas Kaufmann by the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Krakow
On the January 23rd, 2025, upon the request of the Council of the Faculty of Voice and Drama, the Senate of the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Krakow has conferred the honorary doctorate upon Jonas Kaufmann – a world renowned Artist, dubbed by critics and audience as the “king of tenors” of contemporary opera scene.
Jonas Kaufmann was honored for his impressive artistic achievements, which include performances in the world most prestigeous theatres such as: The Metropolitan Opera House in New York, Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, La Scala in Milan, The Vienna State Opera, The Bavarian State Opera in Munich, La Monnaie in Brussels, or Opernhaus in Zurich, realizing numerous audio and video recordings for prominent record companies, winning many prestigeous international awards and honorable mentions, expecially the title of Doctor Honoris Causa of the Royal College of Music in London, participation in charity concerts, proving the Artist’s committment to social mission, and artistically supporting young talented vocalists.
