Madej Zdzisław

Zdzisław Madej, PhD., habil.
Roman Catholic priest, Rector of St. Martin Church in Wrocław. Opera, oratory and concert singer. Tenor classified as lyrico-spinto. Currently guest performing as a soloist in the Opera of Wrocław.

Studied at Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, class of opera singing under the guidance of professor Rheginaldo Pinheiro. Graduated from K. Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, from the class of opera singing under the guidance of professor Ewa Czermak. Post graduation studies at Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover, Germany, class of solo singing under the guidance of professor Markus Schaefer. Post doctoral degree from F. Chopin University of Music in Warsaw (2013).

His opera repertoire includes following parts: W. A. Mozart – Die Zauberflote – Tamino, Die Entführung aus dem Serail – Belmonte; G. Bizet – Les Pecehurs de Perles – Nadir, Carmen – Don Jose; G. Donizetti – L’elisir d’Amore – Nemorino, Lucia di Lammermoor – Edgaro; C. Gounod – Faust – Faust; P. I. Tchaikovsky – Eugene Onegin – Lensky; J. Massenet – Werther – Werther; G. Puccini – Turandot – Calaf, La Boheme – Rodolfo, Tosca – Cavaradossi; G. Verdi – La Traviata – Alfredo, Un ballo in maschera – Riccardo, Rigoletto – Duke; R. Leoncavallo – I Pagliacci – Canio; P.             Requested to take part in many concerts and festivals, in cooperation with, among others, Wrocław Philharmonie, Sudecka Philharmonie, International Festival Wratislavia Cantans, Maestro J. Geiser, Maestro A. Chorosiński, Konzerthaus Freiburg (Germany), International Festival Non Sola Scripta, International Festival Silesia Sonat, International Tenor Festival in Szczecin Opera House, International Moniuszko’s Festival in Kudowa Zdrój.

            In addition to the opera singing, interested in oratory genre. Took part in many concerts in Poland and abroad – solo parts in: J. Haydn The Creation, (2001 Colmar- France, 2004 Wrocław); A. Bruckner Te Deum (2001 Wrocław, 2003 Lyon); G. Puccini Messa di Gloria (2003 Szczecin, 2006 Lyon, Strasburg); W. A. Mozart – Requiem (2002 Freiburg- Germany), A. Ramirez – Missa Criolla (2010 Wrocław).

            Furthermore repertoire includes following works: J. S. Bach: Matthäuspassion (Evangelist, Arie), Johanness- Passion (Evangelist, Arie), Weihnachtsoratorium, Magnificat, h-moll Messe; L. van Beethoven: IX Symphonie, Missa Solennis, Missa C-dur op. 86; A. Bruckner: Te Deum; A. Dvorak: Stabat Mater, Requiem; G. F. Haendel: Messiah, Dixit Dominus; J. Haydn: Die Schöpfung, Die Jahreszeiten, G. Mahler: Das Lied von der Erde; F. Mendelssohn- Bartholdy: Paulus, Elias; W. A. Mozart: Missa brevis B-dur, Requiem; G. Puccini: Messa di Gloria; A. Ramirez: Missa Criolla; G. Verdi: Messa di Requiem. Repertoire also include songs of various composers, among others: L. van Beethoven (An die ferne Geliebte), J. Brahms, F. Chopin, S. Moniuszko, W. A. Mozart, F. Schubert (Die schöne Müllerin, Schwanengesang, Winterreise), R. Schumann (“Dichterliebe”).

            Since 2013 he guides the solo singing class at the Academy of Music in Cracow.
