Dear Sirs,
The Academy of Music in Cracow Department of Wind Instruments, Percussion and Accordion has been organizing the "Sources and Inspiration" International Festival of Percussion Music (3 rd edition) on 5 th - 8 th May 2005.
According to its tradition the Festival will comprise concerts, workshops and seminar as well as presentations of new products of companies that manufacture percussion instruments and accessories. Our experience shows that such formula of the festival has aroused lively interest and acceptance of our public. It has been proved both by press reviews published after the previous editions of the Festival and by high attendance at the concerts and workshop classes.
The following performers are going to participate in the third edition of the Festival:
Prof. Klaus Tresselt and the Stuttgart Percussion Group (Hochschule fur Music und Darstelle Kunst) - one of the most eminent percussion pedagogues in Germany, educator of a big group of laureates of the most important percussion contest all over the world.
Pierre Favre - propably the most respected and greatest Switzerland drummer and jazz composer. The man who helped put the European jazz on a new track. Hes
been described in the press as a poet, painter and sculptor. As a solo percussionist he toured all round the world.
Giridhar Udupa ( India ) - an eminent specialist in table, ghatam and other Indian percussion instruments.
Michel Quinn ( USA ) - a master of march percussion, specialist in cymbals play.
Billy Cobham ( USA ) - a legendary jazz-rock percussionist, fusion, who created his original style and technique of play on a jazz set. He could not come to visit us last year but we are sure that this time we'll have the pleasure to receive him in Cracow .
Except from the foreign performers, just like in the previous years, we'll have also several Polish artists here such as Big Band and Percussion Groups of the Cracow Academy of Music.
Numerous listeners are attracted by names of artists, which are known not only among specialists. The ethnic version of percussion instruments become more and more popular and people are very much interested in folklore of other cultures. That is why our Festival has found a big response among the audience.
